What we did
Afro hair brand, Ruka approached us to produce and execute their physical launch party and pop-up retail store. Entertaining guests and influencers whilst engaging consumers and enticing passers-by inside to shop all things Ruka.
The first night of this 3-day Ruka pop-up was an invite-only launch party that was attended by influencers, co-creators, hair industry specialists and more.
All guests were greeted at reception with bespoke, Ruka-inspired cocktails (Strawberry Rukari, Kinks on the Beach & Ruka Punch) and were served delicious African street food, courtesy of The Suya Factory. The event kicked off with a panel of industry-famous speakers, sharing their hair stories with the crowd, after that the party kicked off. Music was provided all night by DJ Rachel Anson, sister of UK Grime star Stormzy.
We had produced and installed a number of interactive features for guests to enjoy, from photo opportunities (like the Ruka mirror display with frosted vinyl tint and decal callouts to an LED photo booth and bespoke foliage backdrop) to giant hanging prints of the panel’s engaging hair stories, projections, giant interactive AV plinths and even hair and make-up stations where guests could maintain their glam looks throughout the night!
The space was utilised as a retail store for the following 2 days. We had installed a number of product and merch displays that enable the hair to be showcased in the best possible manner. It hung down and flowed, showing how the curls and coils sit and enabled shoppers to touch and feel the product.
The pop-up was very well received and widely popular, receiving a lot of footfall and converting those visitor numbers into sale numbers at a high rate. Even more impressively so, we managed to turn this around in just 2 weeks!
