Solheim Cup 2026: 100 Day Countdown

With the Solheim Cup set to be hosted in the Netherlands for the first time in 2026, there was a unique opportunity to build national awareness and excitement ahead of the tournament.

To mark the 100-day countdown, we delivered a high-impact public activation in the heart of Amsterdam, designed to capture attention, engage golf fans, sports fans and families, and drive ticket sales through a memorable and shareable experience.

Brief

Our brief was to create a bold countdown moment that announced the arrival of the Solheim Cup to the Netherlands and generated widespread awareness in the lead-up to the tournament. The activation needed to celebrate the first Solheim Cup hosted in the Netherlands, appeal to audiences beyond traditional golf fans, generate PR and social media engagement, drive ticket sales, and create a memorable experience within a high-footfall public space.

Solution

To bring the countdown to life, we created a giant Solheim Cup golf ball that appeared to have crash-landed in the centre of Amsterdam.

Standing approximately three metres in diameter, the oversized golf ball was partially embedded into the ground, complete with impact cracks and surrounding floor damage to create the illusion that it had fallen from the sky. Installed at Amsterdam Centraal, one of the city’s busiest transport hubs, the activation acted as a striking visual metaphor that the Solheim Cup had officially arrived in the Netherlands.

The installation featured countdown messaging, event branding and QR codes linking directly to ticket sales. Designed to be highly photogenic and shareable, the activation generated strong PR imagery, social media content and public engagement, helping build momentum and anticipation ahead of the tournament.
