Aston Martin F1: Great British Road Trip

In the run up to the British Grand Prix at Silverstone, Britain’s most iconic racing manufacturer, Aston Martin F1 asked us to help them generate a buzz prior to the race – giving fans and partners the experience of a lifetime, up close and personal with a real-life F1 car.

The Objective

Aston Martin F1 Team’s brief to us was focused on generating noise and excitement around the Aston Martin F1 Team, whilst anticipation for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone was building. They wanted to create a shareable experience that connected the brand to their everyday fans across Britain (as well as strengthening relationships with key partners along the way).

The Solution

We were approached to plan and execute a nationwide showcase of the Aston Martin F1 Team car, driving through key cities throughout Great Britain, visiting a number of landmarks and places of interest along the way.

We sourced a transparent trailer suitable to house and hero the F1 car, organised 4-days worth of stop-offs and drive-by’s, as well as oversaw the tour whilst live – we launched the campaign with a night time shoot of the trailer in the heart of London…

In order to allow Aston Martin F1’s content team the opportunity to get the best content possible, we booked passenger bikes that would enable the camera operators to follow the trailer along the roads and capture content from the back of the bike. During the shoot, the trailer visited a series of iconic British landmarks including; Trafalgar Square, Tower Bridge, St. Paul’s Cathedral and more. Lit up by the lights of the trailer and the city, Aston Martin F1 Team’s car (and the DBX towing the trailer) looked absolutely stunning and drew the attention of all who saw it drive past.

Following on from the shoot, the tour officially launched in London. The trailer visited a number of Aston Martin F1 Team’s key partners before heading to Victoria Station for a highly-anticipated fan stop. It was here at Victoria that fans had the opportunity to get up close to the car in the trailer and even get an exclusive look at some of Fernando Alonso’s race equipment and awards. Exclusive Aston Martin F1 Team caps were also given out for free, to those lucky enough to get their hands on them.

Beyond the launch in London this tour visited Silverstone, Hertfordshire, Birmingham, Manchester and Wrexham. The trailer completed fan stops and visited partners in each following city.
